London Breakthrough – No One Collection (2022)

London Breakthrough is the first collection of No One Collection, inspired by a year and a half of MA research on empowerment through clothing and design for social evolution.

Conceptualized as garments to fight for social and climate justice, each look represents one social topic each participant decided to focus on during the research, from intersectionality to police violence. Trying to pinpoint what it means to be an activist and why so many people struggle to break from apathy, the research brought a group of young activists together to discuss their relationship with social action and try to establish a method to ease into those actions.

Through the course of this research, we asked the participants to imagine themself as ‘Super Activist’ characters, brainstorming on uniforms and super powers to fight for their social action. We then applied those reflections to the real world, designing direct actions and showcasing this journey during the Covid-19 lockdown through a VR experience.

This research settles the base principle of our brand, grounded in social-political action and a desire to design for social good. From this project emerged ‘The Activist Cookbook’, a zine that was designed to share our findings about how becoming an activist and ‘London Breakthrough’, a made-to-order co-designed collection inspired by this creative journey.
